      Overview

      Ontario is Canada’s most popular landing destination for immigrants from around the world. As Canada’s most populous province, accounting for approximately 40 percent of the country’s population, and the second largest by total area (after Quebec). Ontario is also home to Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, and its largest city, Toronto. The economic, social, and political life of Canada revolves around Ontario. The province of Manitoba to the west, Hudson Bay and James Bay to the north, and Quebec to the east and northeast, and to the south by the U.S. states of (from west to east) Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York borders Ontario. Ontario is the most important manufacturing province in Canada, accounting for 52% of total national manufacturing shipments. Michigan is Ontario’s most important commercial partner in the United States.

      The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the name of the Provincial Nominee Program in Ontario, which collaborates with the Canadian government through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

      Prospective immigrants with the skills and experience sought by the province may be eligible for a provincial nomination from Ontario, following which they may apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence in Canada.

      The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is one of the province’s economic immigration programs. They are associated with the Government of Canada and work through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This program is intended for skilled or semi-skilled foreign workers along with international students and business entrepreneurs with the highest level of education and work experience to support the economy to apply for the OINP to receive a nomination. Thereafter, OINP identifies and recommends the right candidate with required skills and experience according to their requirement to apply for a permanent residence Visa to get it approved by the Government of Canada.

      There are three ways to get qualified to apply for this nomination

      Employer Job Offer Category:

      Foreign Worker Stream
      This is open for overseas employees who are working and staying in or outside of Canada. To apply for this stream, applicants must receive a valid job offer from the employer in any skilled Occupation that is listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) with Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B

      International Student Stream
      This intended for international students with a valid job offer which is received from any employer in Ontario with specific skilled occupation available at Skill Type 0 or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

      In-Demand Skills Stream
      This intended for intermediate skilled workers in specific areas of profession. Applicants need to get a valid job offer in specific in-demand occupations in the areas of agriculture, construction, trucking and personal support workers.

      Human Capital Category:

      The human capital category is divided into 5 streams under two sub-categories, i.e. the International Graduate Streams and Ontario’s Express Entry Streams.

      International Graduates
      Ontario’s International Graduate has two streams which are premeditated for international students who have recently completed their graduate degrees (Masters), or doctoral degree from an eligible Ontario university without a job offer and must apply for it within two years of getting the degree.

      The Masters Graduate Stream
      It is an immigration stream which allows international graduates who have recently completed their Master’s Degree from the University to apply for permanent residence to live and work in Ontario.

      Ontario’s Express Entry
      This Ontario’s Express Entry streams are associated with Express Entry online application system and applicants would receive a notification of interest (NOI), directly from Ontario through their active Express Entry Application with an up-to-date profile with most current work experience, language tests and education, to show the interest to apply for a provincial nomination program. This category is divided into three streams are as below:

      Ontario Express Entry: French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
      This stream is intended for French-speaking skilled workers who have a valid job offer in Ontario and have a minimum of one year of work experience in the last 10 years in a skilled occupation. Applicants must have a minimum CLB 7 in French and a minimum CLB 5 in English.

      Candidates with relevant work experience and valid job offers, ie.e. at least any on e from eleven qualifyinig health occupation from a recognized employer in British Columbia, in physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses or allied health professionals are eligible to apply under this sub category

      The French-Speaking Skilled Worker
      Stream is intended for workers with strong English language skill abilities along with their highest-level education, relevant work experience and other factors to show their interest to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario.


      Human Capital Priorities stream

      Allows foreign workers to submit their federal Express Entry Profile in the pool of Candidates with the required relevant work experience, language abilities, highest level of education and other factors to show their interest to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario.

      Skilled Trades Stream
      Allows foreign citizens to submit their Express Entry Profile under trade worker stream and applicants who have recently worked or working as a tradesperson in Ontario to show their interest to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario.

      Business Category:

      The Entrepreneur Stream is also an immigration stream under the Business Category of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. This stream is intended for international entrepreneurs, who are seeking to implement a new business awareness or buy and grow their prevailing business in Ontario. Once the business is recognized, it will be entitled to apply for a provincial nomination certificate from the Ontario Government to become permanent residents of Canada.
